Alicia Townsend was born in 1997 in Melbourne, Australia. She moved to Brisbane soon after, and trained at the Annette Roselli Dance Academy for 13 years where she received her RAD Solo Seal examination. She then completed her last two years of training at the Queensland Ballet Academy before progressing to the Queensland Ballet’s Pre-Professional Program. Alicia performed with the Queensland Ballet Company in productions including Derek Deane’s Strictly Gershwin and Ben Stevenson’s Swan Lake & The Nutcracker. She also toured with the company to Australia’s capital, Canberra. Alicia then accepted a contract with the National Moravian–Silesian Theatre in the Czech Republic. As a corps de ballet member with soloist obligations, she danced a variety of repertoire with highlights including Don Quixote, Swan Lake, Cinderella and Krzysztof Pastor’s new Dangerous Liaisons.
Alicia is delighted to be joining Ballet Ireland for their production of Swan Lake and is looking forward to beginning her first season with the company.
