Karl Fagerlund Brekke

Karl was born and raised in Copenhagen, Denmark. He grew up in a theatrical environment with his father running a physical theatre school. At the age of 18 he quit ice hockey and began his formal dance training at Sceneingangen in Copenhagen. He continued his training in London where he studied at London Studio Centre and Rambert School. He supplemented his formal training with workshops in Vienna and Brussels with, among others, David Zambrano, Rasmus Ölme, Susan Klein, Miguel Gutierrez and Rootless Root. His theatre training has been supplemented by among others Geoffrey Colman, Gabrielle Moletta and Guillaume Pigé

Since graduating Karl has been working in dance and physical theatre artists including: Arthur Pita, Lea Tirabasso, Complicité (Simon McBurney), Junk Ensemble, Russel Maliphant, Annabel Arden, Luca Silvestrini’s Protein, Lucy McCormick, Leila McMillan Dance, Alexander Baczynski-Jenkins.

At the 18th UK National Dance Awards Karl was nominated for Best male performance (modern) for his role in Arthur Pita’s Stepmother/Stepfather.

Karl joined Ballet Ireland in 2026.
