Mami Fujii

Mami was born in Yamaguchi, Japan. She started training at Takae Kuroki Ballet Studio. In 2009, she won the first prize at Kitakyushu and Asia Dance competition and The Ballet competition in Sapporo. Mami was a semi-finalist at the Youth America Grand Prix in NYC (2009) and Prix de Lausanne (2011).

After graduating from English National Ballet School in 2012, Mami joined Cape Town City Ballet as soloist where she danced lead roles in Sleeping BeautyFire Bird, Paquita, Diana and Action and Swan Lake. She performed as a soloist in a variety of roles such as Les Sylphides and Raymonda, and also performed in works by John Neumeier: Spring and Fall and La Sacra.

In 2015, she worked with Opera National de Bordeaux as danseuse supplémentaire.

In 2016-2018, she joined Ballett Vorpommern in Germany and danced works by Director Ralf Dörnen. She also worked with choreographers such as Vera Sander, Robert Glumbek, Sabra Johnson and David Bleázquez.

In February 2021, Mami was selected and received support from Akiyoshidai International Art Village in Yamaguchi, Japan, where she performed ‘Solo Dance Performance’ which she choreographed.

Mami joined Ballet Ireland in 2022.
