Clare Bassett was born in Saint John, New Brunswick. She trained at Canada’s National Ballet School, Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, and the Graduate Dance Program at Arts Umbrella in Vancouver. She has danced in children’s roles with the National Ballet of Canada and with Ballet BC, and performed with the Arts Umbrella Dance Company in the Netherlands alongside dancers of the Studio Group of Noord Nederlandse Dans in Groningen. Clare previously danced with Ballet Kelowna for three seasons under David LaHay, and during that time has danced featured roles in works by Canadian choreographers, Shawn Hounsell, Simone Orlando and Joe Laughlin; Rondos Dance Theatre in Saint John, New Brunswick; and been an apprentice in Conny Janssen Danst in Rotterdam, NL. She recently performed in work by Lauren Speirs in Dublin and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2016. Clare previously performed in Ballet Ireland’s Coppelia (2015).
