Elena Marchesi was born in Vicenza (Italy) and began her dance training at the Centro Danza Oggi. At the age of sixteen she furthered her training by joining the Hamburg Ballet School. Whilst in Hamburg, she had the chance to work closely with the Company dancing in a number of their productions including A Street Car Named Desire, Napoli and Giselle (John Neumeier). Elena also represented the school with Petrushka variation (John Neumeier) which was performed at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow and at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich.
Upon graduating, Elena joined the Stuttgart Ballet under the direction of Reid Anderson where she danced many roles in the Cranko repertoire such as Onegin, Romeo and Juliet and Lady and the Fool. She also worked with choreographer Marcia Haydee in their production of Sleeping Beauty.
Elena has worked with the Dortmund Ballet for their version of Swan Lake (Xin Peng Wang), with the Victor Ullate Ballet and with Zurich Ballet for their productions of Giselle (Patrice Bart) and Swan Lake (Alexander Ratmansky).
This is her first season with Ballet Ireland.
