Miguel Piquer Suria

This is Miguel’s first season with Ballet Ireland. Miguel was born in Valencia, he started dancing at the age of 7 at the Conservatorio P.M. de Danza de Ribarroja del Turia. At the age of 17 we was awarded a scholarship to train at London Studio Centre, where he became part of Images of Dance, the touring company of the school. In 2007 he joined the Sarasota Ballet of Florida and was promoted to Soloist in 2009. While in Sarasota he dance a wide variety of leading roles including Ashton’s Les Rendezvous, Two Pigeons (Gypsy Lover), Les Patineurs (Blue Boy), De Valois The Rakes Progress, Peter Darrell’s Othello (Iago), Galina Samsova’s Paquita and Yuri Possokhov’s Firebird (Katscheï) amongst others. While in the company he also performed other roles by Balanchine, Kenneth MacMillan, Peter Wright, Andre Prokovsky, David Bentley, Christopher Wheeldon, Mathew Bourne, Twyla Tharp, Robert North, Will Tuckett, Matthew Heart, Johan Kobborg, Antony Tudor, Agnes de Mille and Dominic Walsh. In 2012 he joined Vienna Festival Ballet as a Principal where he toured the UK performing lead roles in Coppelia, Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake and Nutcracker, also was part of the world premiere of Barry McGrath’s Snow White. Other carrer highlights include having worked with the Ballet Nacional de Cuba in the world premiere of Alicia Alonso’s Sheakspeare y sus Mascaras and Don Quijote, working with English National Ballet in their productions of Swan Lake and Romeo and Juliet at the Royal Albert Hall, and winning the Gold Medal at the Festival Internacional de la Havana in Cuba.
