A story of Love Betrayal and Redemption
Touring to Edinburgh - Friday 3rd to Sunday 19th August 2018
“**** A 21st century Giselle… Brave and breathtakingly beautiful at times, Ballet Ireland’s Giselle borders on the sublime… exquisitely executed, with traditional en pointe sequences seeming to find a new, expressive freedom.” theartsreview.com
“**** The combination of choreography, visuals and re-imagined musical score proves thoroughly engaging and aids in evoking a range of emotions throughout.” thereviewshub.com
A haunting story of love and betrayal, choreographed by Ludovic Ondiviela (former Royal Ballet dancer). Betrayed by Albrecht, Giselle dies broken hearted, but her spirit returns to protect and forgive her now-repenting lover from death at the hands of the vengeful Wilis. Ballet Ireland’s 21st century telling of this romantic classic reminds us of how it feels to have your heart broken, yet still yearn to love.
Ballet Ireland tours Giselle to Edinburgh this August following its hugely successful production of Romeo & Juliet (2017).
