Bold Moves:

Dare to Dream

★★★★  “And true to Pita’s own imaginative style, that world proves to be a rollercoaster of weirdness and surprise”
“This is a delicious confection of a Dream, richly choreographed (in loving homage to Frederick Ashton) but subverted by a rude and surreal spirit of misrule”

The Guardian – Judith Mackrell

★★★★ “Pita has a great eye for theatre, a wonderful comic touch and an impressive fluency in the language of ballet “

The Times – Debra Craine

This April, Ballet Ireland electrifies the O’Reilly Theatre, Dublin with a thrilling triple-bill packed with imagination, drama and daring movement. The programme features two striking works by award-winning choreographer Arthur Pita alongside a world premiere by Irish choreographer Ruaidhri Maguire.

Bold, theatrical, and unmissable – this is Ballet Ireland at full force.

A Dream Within a Midsummer Night’s Dream

Originally created for Ballet Black in 2014, Arthur Pita’s Olivier-nominated A Dream Within a Midsummer Night’s Dream, described as ‘charming and hilarious’ by Dance Europe magazine. The production mixes classical and contemporary to distill the essence of Shakespeare’s comedy, unfolding to an eclectic soundtrack that includes Eartha Kitt, Barbra Streisand and Yma Sumac.

Storm Scene

World Premiere

A bold new commission inspired by the powerful and evocative storm in Shakespeare’s King Lear. Both literal and metaphorical, the storm marks a pivotal moment of transformation, revelation, and rupture. The ballet explores the charged stillness before the turmoil that gathers beneath the surface – the psychological storm raging within the characters. Through movement, music, and theatrical design, Storm Scene conjures an atmosphere of suspense, upheaval, and catharsis, drawing on the raw emotion and poetic intensity of one of Shakespeare’s most turbulent moments. It is an exploration in which the chaos of nature reflects the inner conflicts of the human soul.

Linear Flux

World Premiere

Set to an evocative score by Peter Gregson, Linear Flux explores lifelines in motion – forming, colliding, and intertwining over time. Like a living string quartet, the dancers weave together themes of connection, mortality, and the invisible forces that bind us.
