Ashley Tsuyu Burks

Ashley, half American, was born in Saga, Japan and started dancing with Nao Ballet Studio at the age of six.

In 2020, after winning in the YAGP Japan competition and receiving several scholarship offers, she continued her studies at Ballettschule Theater Basel, followed by her final year at the Tanzakademie Zürich, and graduating from both in 2024. During her education, she performed works with many choreographers such as Craig Davidson, Richard Wherlock, Iratxe Ansa, and Igor Bacovich.

Ashley has also worked with Ballet Zürich and Tanz und Kunst Königsfelden on productions: Blushing by Marco Goecke, Carmen by Filipe Portugal, Glass Pieces by Jerome Robbins, and Les Noces by Bronislava Nijinska.

Along with corps de ballet work, she has also danced the main roles of Myrtha, Sugar Plum Fairy, Heidi, and Scotch Princess (Balanchine).

Ashley joined Ballet Ireland in 2025.
